    Elson S. Floyd, Ph.D.
    President

    Dr. Floyd became WSU's tenth president on May 21st, 2007. Prior to WSU, he was president of the four-campus University of Missouri for four years and before that president of Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo for more than four years. He also held administrative posts at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and at Eastern Washington University, and was executive director of the Washington State Higher Education Coordinating Board. A native of Henderson, N.C., Dr. Floyd holds a bachelor of arts degree in political science and speech, a master of education degree in adult education, and a doctor of philosophy degree in higher and adult education, all from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

    Warwick M. Bayley, Ph.D.
    Provost and Executive Vice President

    Dr. Warwick M. Bayley became Washington State University's Provost and Executive Vice President after serving as Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine.  Dr. Bayley is the past president of the World Equine Veterinary Association, Washington State Veterinary Medical Association, and the Comparative Respiratory Society, and has served on the Governmental Affairs Committee of the American Association of Veterinary Medical Colleges.  Dr. Bayley holds a B.V.Sc from Melbourne University, Australia; a M.S. from Ohio State University; a Ph.D. from the University of Liege, Belgium; and is a Diplomat of the American College of Internal Medicine - Large Animal Specialty.

     

    Lucila Loera-Herrera, M.A.
    Dean of Students

    As the dean of students, Lucila (Luci) Loera-Herrera serves as an ambassador to students and liaison to the academic community. She advocates for student needs, helps them in times of crisis, and advances initiatives to enhance the overall student experience. In her commitment to providing access and opportunity for students, Loera-Herrera has secured over $3 million in federal funding to assist first generation and low-income students. Loera-Herrera chairs the WSU Campus Climate Response Group, has served on the regional TRiO Travel Abroad Committee, and was a recipient of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Distinguished Service Award in 2004. Loera-Herrera earned a master’s degree in counseling psychology from WSU and a bachelor’s degree in social ecology from the University of California, Irvine.

    Carol Anelli, Ph.D.
    Associate Professor Entomology

    Dr. Anelli earned her Ph.D. and M.S. in Entomology from University of Illinois in Urbana, IL, and a B.S. in Biology from Southern Connecticut State University.  Dr. Anelli completed postdoctoral research at the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the National Institutes of Health.  She has been on the faculty of the Department of Entomology since 1996.  She teaches courses for General Education, the Honors College, and the Department of Entomology.  Her course contents, materials, teaching methods and even examinations have been highly praised by students and peers on the local and national level.  Her work addresses the history of entomology and evolutionary thought, the teaching of evolution, and pedagogy using interdisciplinary approaches.  Dr. Anelli was one of the first members selected to serve on the President’s Teaching Academy and served as its first chair.  She was awarded the Sahlin Excellence Award for Instruction in 2009.
